Upgrade
- July 31, 2008 - 2:27pm
I just upgraded my CPU, Motherboard and RAM.
I am now running an Intel E8500 with 4GB of DDR2 RAM, an ASUS Rampage Formula and an ATI HD3870X2. Can anyone say fast plz?
Also, one would assume that if you buy an ASUS cooler it would fit ASUS ROG boards right? Wrong. I also bought an ASUS Silent Square Pro, it wouldn't fit properly against the heatsinks on the motherboard until I modified the bracket that holds the CPU heatsink down.
It's all working nicely now and looking very pretty ![]()

Is about all I do, when I'm not playing Hellgate: London.
I am totally addicted to HG:L and it is affecting my other activities.

Got a Job!
- May 13, 2008 - 9:44am
I got a job. Shift Supervisor at London Luton Airport's Duty Free shop.
Pay is better than Jessops, is closer to home and they give a lot better training.
The only downside is it's shifts, so, some early mornings and some late nights.
Redundancy
- March 27, 2008 - 4:33am
For the second time in less than 6 months I face the prospect of being without a job.
This time Jessops have decided in their infinite wisdom that the best way to cut costs is to cut out a tier of management, specifically Assistant Managers and Operations Managers (of which I am the former). I have 3 choices apply for a Store Manager position (there are a handful available, but none local to me), take a pay cut and be redeployed as a Sales Assistant (I can't afford to do that) or to be made redundant.
Obviously, my options aren't great.
*Goes to look for a new job*
Jessop's to cut more than 200 jobs
Sorry
- March 11, 2008 - 8:01am
Sorry if you've said something to me recently and I've not replied, I've been somewhat pre-occupied with creating a whole set of emoticons for another website.
They're pretty though!
laptop
- March 4, 2008 - 7:39am
So I inherited a Fujitsu Siemens laptop yesterday, nothing special, just a 2GHz P4, but it was free so I intend on taking it up to a 3GHz P4 and 1GB of RAM, that should be fun for some retro gaming if I can get Windows 2000 installed on to it properly.
The only problem is, whilst taking it apart earlier to investigate how easy it is to get the cpu out (and to replace the shitty thermal material) I appear to have killed something so now I just have a blank screen, but no beeping from the BIOS, everything is connected correctly.
Oops.
Stuff n Things

So I bought and installed the HD3870 X2.
This card is really fucking awesome, I'm now running UT3 at near enough maximum settings and I'm still only using an old socket 939 4200+ X2.
I am at a loss as to whether to bother upgrading to C2Q though, I'll see how this system works out over the coming months before blowing £400 on switching systems.
I went up to see Nirach yesterday and bought his PS3 and an Apple Cinema Display off of him. Hawt. I'd forgotten how big Nirach is, I'm 6 foot 4 and he makes me feel small. His new dog Buster is adorable, he likes cuddles, shame I now have to go wash slobber out of everything I wore yesterday.
I'm now going to be spending more of my time here, I need to get away from dA and the idiots that infest it these days. But we need chat (or an IRC server) and emoticons! :D
Also why do I have an extra six months on my sub? :o
Which graphics cards?
- February 1, 2008 - 9:14pm
- Mood: I have a cold :'(
- Playing: Hellgate: London
- Drinking: Smoothie :D
So I am going to hold off on building a new system until Intel have launched their new Nehalem chips later this year or whenever. This means I want a new graphics card(s) (and power supply). I'm currently looking at a single 8800GTX, dual HD 3870s or a HD 3870 X2. My current motherboard supports crossfire (old socket 939 D: ) so I'm thinking I'll get better performance if I stick to that.
Unless I should spend an extra £350ish and to convert to Core 2 Quad?
UT3
- December 26, 2007 - 11:13pm
- Playing: Unreal Tournament 3
- Drinking: Alcohol
This game is fucking sexy, even on my slightly older PC.
I thought CoD4 was nice looking!
I Came
- December 26, 2007 - 11:12pm
- Mood: Tired
- Playing: Hellgate: London
- Watching: Top Gear
- Drinking: Cider
- Eating: Toffee Popcorn
I came, I joined, I fell asleep because I'd been up all night playing Hellgate: London.
Which by the way, bears very little resemblance to actual London. But hey, it's a pretty cool game.
I also just completed Call of Duty 4, which i now need to go beat on harder settings.
